The Rockingest Cafeteria Ever
They've done an extreme makeover on our cafeteria, it's now painted a mustardy yellow, as opposed to a maroon. They've also made it more "open" by virtue of taking out all the stuff I actually enjoyed eating. The coup-deglaze [sic], though, is they're now blaring music all the time that they're open.

Pause for a moment, and think about that. What kind of music are you sure everyone will like in a corporate environment? Something that says "my collar's not that tight. It's not like we're playing classical music". "Light Rock", "Adult Contemporary", or whatever. I just call it crap. Nothing brings out the sullen teen in me like corporate America desperately trying to loosen up. Why not spend all that cash on something I might like to eat?

The first episode of The Triangle was on Sci-Fi last night, supported by a whole host of B-List actors. [info]sylvia_wrath doesn't like water-related drama, so she ran and hid some of the time. They're ratcheting up the freakyness almost gradually, and the cheapness that always happens with TV movies isn't too bad here. Catherine Bell is always easy on the eyes, and Eric Stoltz is... well... Eric Stoltz. I always like Sam Neill. The acting level is predictably spotty. When I can predict dialogue word for word it means the writing is a little off, too.

Conceptually, it's still got me guessing. It's a mishmash of things that naturally occur (haloclines, methane bubbles, storms) with a sort of time travel / parallel universe / don't disturb Cthulhu kinda thing. This makes the whole thing sort of a mess right now, and I'm interested to see how it works out. I'm a sucker for pulp, after all.

The zombies returned to my dreams last night...

I'm in this rural town, it feels like NC. A very small town with lots of old buildings on the "main" street. I'm with my little brother, we're probably 10 and 8, respectively. There's a space shuttle flying over, with what looks sorta like the ISS. Three cylinders in a row, like half a six pack, with rockets all on one end. This tries to dock with the shuttle bay, but there's some mishap
[the fact that this all appears to be happening only a couple hundred meters above me does, in fact, at the time, seem kind of peculiar] and some slow motion acrobatics let me know that bad shit is going down right near us. I grab my brother, and we take cover behind a building in a Michael-Bay-style leap away from the explosion. We're in the lee of the building, and I can see the force of the blast go by us. After it quiets down, I look up, and there they are in all their shambling glory. I decided it was time to wake up then.
